what is important

What is truly important? (a good question to ask ourselves this U.S. Election Day and around the globe)!

Dreamy as a newborn,

when all is said and done…

each day is new.

No matter our age.

It is up to us to focus on what matters,

to keep our freshness, youth, and hope alive.

We don’t have to listen to naysayers or watch the news on the television.

All we really need to do is ask ourselves:

What is truly important?

I have heard it been said and I believe it is true:

if we always do the most important thing first,
then everything else will fall into place.

It takes some reflection on our part to allow what is important to float to the top…

Whether it is through prayer, journal writing, walks on the beach, meditation, or good talks with loved ones…

We all have the ability to filter out the stuff that doesn’t really matter and hone in on what does.

Tomorrow if you are a United States citizen, you are being called upon to do this very thing, which is to ask yourself:

What is truly important?

I am a Florida resident and have already voted, but I was a little surprised by what I did when I answered this question.

This question,”What is truly important?” does not have room for knee-jerk responses, or conditioned responses such as “I have always voted this way or I have always done things this way…”

We all have intellects, free will, and are not held captive by the media or our own personal history.

So turn the television off for a bit, be still, and listen…

Listen to your heart,

tune into what is truly important!

To our friends who are not in the USA… (we have so many visitors of The Warm Milk Journal from Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland, France, Austrailia, Japan, Russia, the Phillipines, Spain, and so many wonderful places on our globe)…

to our overseas friends, we love you and ask that you send your loving energy and prayers to the USA tomorrow.

This election is important for our country and the world and we all need to breathe and collectively

ask ourselves and one another,

What is truly important?!!!!!

In Peace,

Debra

What is important?

When you find a moment to pause in your busy day, think of what is important

What is important to you?

What speaks the truth for you?

What will put a smile on your face during the day?

What will give you a blessed sense of peace when your head hits your pillow at night?

Only you can answer this question.

Deep down you really know the answer(s).

To what is important!

In Peace,

What are you making time for in your life? A journal writing exercise

Time is a relative thing. For many of us, there never seems to be enough of it, does there? We live in a society of go go go and busy-ness. Days and weeks and months go by in a flash.

Are you happy with how you are spending your days? I think if we all focused on what is really most important and did those things first, we would feel better about the amount of time we have. If we are not (which may be many of us), then we may feel frustrated stressed that there never seems to be enough time.

Here’s a few questions for your journal writing time:

     1. Describe an ideal day for yourself. How would you spend the day? What would you do? Who would you see? How do you feel?

     2. If you only had six months left to live what changes would you make in your life?

     3. What are some activities and obligations that you could take off your plate?

     4. What do you want to say yes to?

     5. Are you willing to say no to other things?

This is your life. YOUR TIME..  How will spend it?

Have a blessed day,

Debra : )

Tea Time Journal Writing Session: What is really important?

It is cold outside but warm inside. Time for a little tea or coffee and reflection. From time to time I like to meditate on what is really important. I may just ask myself, the universe, or God what is really important? Then be still, and see and feel what surfaces. It’s a good idea to have your journal or notebook nearby to jot anything down that comes up.

I like to write down lists when I am journaling. I try not to think too much about it I just start writing and see what comes out.

What is really important?

  1. Being healthy
  2. Love
  3. Home
  4. Family
  5. Fulfilling work that financially, creatively, and spiritually feeds me.
  6. Play
  7. Quiet
  8. Friends
  9. Companionship
  10. Time outdoors

I will stop there. your turn…

What is important in life? A journal writing exercise

I just love list writing for my journal time. When I am pressed for time (which is often the case), writing a list is a quick way to access feelings, events, situations, options, passions, etc. It can be a way to tap into our intuition; that wise voice from within- especially if we don’t think too hard about it and just write.

Don’t edit, Write down quickly whatever wants to come out.

Sometimes patterns emerge or clarity about a situation in your life will surface. Sometimes it just chisels down what is truly important in life. This is our lives. Why waste precious hours, weeks, months, and years on stuff that in the end really doesn’t matter a whole lot?

I like to ask myself a question, and then write my list .

This morning’s question is : “What is important”?

  1. My health
  2. Having someone to love and share my life with
  3. A comfortable, beautiful, and peaceful home to live in.
  4. Family and friends
  5. Meaningful work
  6. Connecting with others
  7. Peace
  8. Good food
  9. Adventure
  10. Growing and learning new things

Your turn.

Have a blessed day.

What to appreciate and nurture. What to release. A journal writing exercise

Some ideas for your journal writing today:

  1. Write a list of things you absolutely could not live without.
  2. Write a list of things that you could live without.  What no longer serves or pleases you?
  3. Who are some people who you really appreciate?
  4. Who are some people that are toxic for you and you need to spend less time with them?

Take care of and appreciate the things and people in your life that love, support, nurture, and give you pleasure.

Anything you don’t want, need, or is toxic in your life? Bless, release, and make room for better things, relationships, and experiences.

It is perfectly okay to be choosy about the objects, relationships, and experiences you nurture and maintain in your life. It is your life!

Have a blessed day.

The Small Things Are The Important Things

The “small things” are what really matter in life such as:

  1. Good food with family
  2. The smile of a stranger as you pass them on the street
  3. Holding hands and stealing kisses with your sweetie when you think no one is looking
  4. Meaningful work
  5. Time to just be and unplug…

Your turn. Get out your journal and jot a few “small things” that make life really work for you….

Journal writing exercise: What does success mean to you?

What does success mean to you? If you have your journal write down some times where you felt like a success. Do you have to achieve anything or own any particular thing to be a “success”? What makes you a success right now?

We live in a society where most people think of success in terms of material attainment. Success could certainly mean earning a certain level of income, living in  a home in a particular neighborhood with a certain amount of square feet, driving around in a nice car, etc.

I invite you to write that list. It may include some of these material things or it may not. If I were to write this list for myself this afternoon it might look something like this:

I Am a success because:

  1. I continue to learn new things and challenge myself.
  2. I live with integrity (if I say I am going to do something I do it).
  3. I am a good mom, lover, friend, sister, and teacher.
  4. I live where I want to live.
  5. I am not afraid of change and doing what it takes to create the life I want for myself.
  6. I am creating something I really care about (hint: The Warm Milk Journal).
  7. I am meeting new people
  8. The Warm Milk Journal is growing in readership and followers on Twitter (633 followers at this time!)
  9. Things I thought I was not good at or afraid to do I am finding I can do them (such as martial arts or developing this site).
  10. My cat Mew loves me (the all important one!) : )

I think that as you write down what success means to you and why you are a success right now, today- what is really important to you will become more clear. Clarity and gaining insight is a tremendous benefit to writing things down.

So put that pen to paper and be reminded of the great success that you are!

Cheers to all of you,

Debra : )
