How can you not smile when these five things are happening…

How can you not smile when…

1. The squirrels in your back patio knocked over the bird bath off it’s pedestal again.

2. The sun is shining,

3. the almost full moon too…

4. You think of all the good people in your life,

5. and you focus on all the good you have coming your way such as: a new career, a tax refund check, a vacation, a date with your spouse this coming weekend…

Cheers! (and smiles)..

Keeping my childhood wonder alive

If I continue to learn new things,

smile more than frown…

If I look for the magic that is everywhere this time of year…

Perhaps I can experience Christmas and every day of the year with the same wonder I had as a young child…

Just perhaps!

Eight ways to make this a great day

8 Ways to make this a great day:

1. Stand and sit tall.  Good posture allows more oxygen to go into your brain. You will feel more alert and confident.

2. Smile

3. Laugh at least once- a real Buddha belly laugh

4. Do something different. Shake things up a little.

5. Plan and do an adventure this weekend.

6. Help another

7. Get outside and look at green natural settings. The color green promotes calmness and well being.

8. Wear a bright colorful outfit today and show the world what you got!

Sometimes the best of intentions backfire

Even when we are doing and trying our best, sometimes it seems life still wants to kick us around a bit.

For example:

  1. We are working hard at our jobs and we still never feel caught up.
  2. We spend all day at our jobs and still feel like we are not getting ahead financially.
  3. Worst, we put in years at our jobs and we out of the blue get laid off.
  4. We intend to offer our love and support to our spouses but instead tension and conflict occurs.
  5. We intend to raise perfectly happy and well adjusted children. Our kids will still grow up imperfect with issues of their own to deal with despite our best parental efforts over the years.
  6. We intend to be gracious in our interactions with others but still put our feet in our mouths from time to time.
  7. We intend to have a great day but then something happens and it all falls apart.

I could go on. Any of this sound familiar?

We are human. I believe most of us really are doing our best. We just don’t always get the outcome we want at times despite our best efforts.

I can’t pretend to have the answers on this. Here are a few thoughts I will post before heading off to work this morning. We can revisit this later.

  1. Work on being flexible. The more rigid we are in our beliefs etc, the harder it will be for us when things don’t go our way.
  2. Do your best. Then be accepting with whatever the outcome.
  3. Put good stuff out there, no matter what else is going on.
  4. Know that things come in cycles. Sometimes things are rolling smoothly and sometimes it is an uphill battle for everything (or so it seems) Oh well… it will pass either way if we are just patient enough.
  5. Remember to smile and laugh even if you don’t feel like it.

Have a blessed day,

Debra

A Friday “to do” list

Some ideas for the day:

  1. Be goofy and playful.
  2. Do something today just for the fun of it.
  3. Call up somebody you care about to tell them what they mean to you.
  4. Try a new recipe tonight.
  5. All of the challenges at work: try to take them all with a grain of salt. The “problems” and all the work won’t go away over night so try not to stress too much about it. Do your best and that is all anyone can expect of you.
  6. Do you have a weekend adventure planned? Is there someplace even in your own city that you have never done before?
  7. Browse a bookstore.
  8. Try a new kind of coffee or tea today.
  9. Even if you don’t feel like it, smile. You can fake it till you make it.
  10. Shop for something new for your home or wardrobe to celebrate the change of season.
  11. Enjoy the cooler Fall days. It is a beautiful time of year!

Happy Friday,

Debra : )
