A Fall evening invites…

A fall evening is here for you!

The darkness invites lit candles and good smells in the kitchen…

The labor of the day is over and now you can rest.

Music…

Family…

Love.

Sweet Moments…

Sweet are the moments such as:

a first kiss, and

a tender kiss from your spouse of twenty years….

Stolen silent minutes at the end of the day,

and the happy sounds of family members catching up with each other at the dinner table…

Oh, how can moments be any sweeter than when:

One receives an unexpected wink, smile, or hug from another, and

when you receive an unexpected phone call, text, Facebook message, or letter from somebody you love…

How about a beautiful flower

or a particularly delightful bite of Swiss milk chocolate?

Yes, these are sweet.

Sweet moments. Sweet things. Sweet people. Sweet YOU!

In peace,

Debra

Love: what is already inside you

Love in time,

Love sublime.

Never lost,

always fine

when found inside you…

Love in time,

Will make itself known

when you choose to see,

when you choose to feel,

whenever you choose to give and

let it in to meet up

with what is already inside you.

Choosing love and forgiveness for a good night sleep and peaceful state of mind

Being in an angry or fearful state of mind do not set us up well for a good night sleep.

Instead, whenever possible, choose love and forgiveness.

Some ideas to help:

1. Instead of getting into that silly argument with your spouse, recognize it for what it is and let it go. Remember all the kind things he did for this past weekend for Mother’s Day… choose love.

2. Things from the past, release.

3. Affirm:

I Am safe

I Am love

In Peace,

Debra

Love is these eight things…

Love has no desire but to fulfill itself. To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving. ~Kahlil Gibran

Love is:

1. Saying you’re sorry when you’ve made a mistake
2. Forgiving those mistakes.
3. A knowing smile…
4. A hand to hold during walks, long car rides, and scary movies.

Love is:

5. A home cooked meal
6. A well timed phone call
7. Hugs
8. Knowing you can be yourself…

Because you are loved!

This post is dedicated to my best friend, John DiPietro, whom I married one year ago today.

What I love and what I appreciate about the things I love. Tonight’s journal writing session.

What we appreciate appreciates.

What we focus on grows.

Why not focus on what we love and how we appreciate what we love?

It’s journal writing time, let’s see…

I love my husband!

(yes, this is really me and John taken on our wedding day last March..already almost a year ago!)

What I appreciate about him is his kindness, friendship, and all the many things he does to take care of the house and our family (including cleaning the cat boxes!)

I love my job!

What I appreciate about my job (I’m a fifth grade school teacher) is: I can help and inspire young people, two days are never the same, I am challenged intellectually and creatively all the time. Yes, I am learning right along with my students: a truly wonderful thing!

I love cats!

What I appreciate about cats is their beauty, softness, companionship, their spirit, everything! I just love cats.

(My sweet cat Mew, of course)

I love Florida!

(A Florida sunset is the best!)

What I appreciate about Florida is that it is my home, it is entrusting me to teach it’s young (by giving me my teaching certificate), the climate, the beach, the palm trees, the fact that it stays green here all year long, and all the friendly people who live here.

This exercise is really fun. I find myself on a roll here. I do not wish to be a bore so I will finish my entry in my private journal and permit you to begin yours!

Have fun!

Love is a gift 365 days a year (not just Valentines Day)

Valentines Day is over, but every day can be a day centered with love.

If love is our guiding compass…

may we be gentle,

patient,

keep our sense of humor throughout the years,

and never forget

what a gift

Love is.

Goodnight.

How can I be the most loving person I am capable of being today? A journal writing session

Love is an act of endless forgiveness, a tender look which becomes a habit. ~Peter Ustinov

Sometimes everyday life challenges us and keeps us from being the most loving people we are capable of being. A goal of mine is to live my life with love being my compass. This is not always easy.

This morning’s journal writing session serves as a reminder and a way of focusing on being that loving person that is inside of us.

In your journals, write: How can I be the most loving person I am capable of being today? Then list as many things as you can think of. I love doing this exercise in the morning when I am first waking up. It sets a positive tone to my day. If at first I was leaning towards getting a grumpy start, this exercise is capable of changing my outlook, mood, and immediately around considerably! Pretty powerful stuff for something so simple.

Ready to give this a try?

As I often do, I will start with a few ideas for my own journal entry and then it will be your turn.

Let’s see..

How can I be the most loving person I am capable of being today?

1. Greet my husband with a smile, hug, and kiss when he wakes up this morning and when I see him when I first get home later this afternoon.

2. Forgive his snoring from last night.

3. Patiently listen to my daughter describe her day when she is home from school.

4. Greet every one of my students with a smile as they enter my classroom this morning.

5. Complain about nothing.

6. Be generous with compliments with everybody I encounter today.

7. Love myself by eating healthy food, drinking plenty of water, and working out.

I will stop here and finish in my private journal.

Have a blessed day full of love.

Debra
