Get out of your timid shell and live with confidence!

Many of us with issues of shyness and anxiety are challenged with feelings of insecurity. We doubt ourselves. We beat ourselves up. We hold ourselves back out of fear and lack of confidence.

Can you imagine your life if you were completely confident in yourself most of the time? How would things be different for you? Who would you have relationships with and what would the quality of these connections be? How would your career be? Would you still be doing what you are doing now or be doing something different? How would you feel and who would be staring back at you as you gaze or pass by a mirror, hmm……?

Here are some ideas to get out of your timid little shell and be COCK-SURE confident of yourself:

1. Stand tall.

2. Walk briskly with long strides and with a sense of purpose.

3. Visualize success in your relationships, work life, etc.

4. Know, and really KNOW what you are capable of. There really is no one else out there like you. How cool is that?

5. Breathe deeply a lot.

6. Drink lot’s of water

7. Eat well

8. Exercise

9. Do what you can to promote a good night’s sleep.

10. Play and work on your strengths. Why struggle at things when you can better spend your time at things you are good at? You will enjoy yourself more and experience greater success at your ease.

Alright, big stuff. Have a great weekend and let em have it!

Cheers!

Learn new things to stay young, be happy, and get a better night sleep

I am a teacher and a life long learner. I firmly believe that if we are learning new things and continue to be curious about life and our world, we continue to grow and not grow old.

Learning new things provides these benefits:

  1. You are never bored
  2. Keeps your mind active and may help ward off aging and diseases such as Alzheimers
  3. Keeps you enthusiastic
  4. Helps to prevent depression and anxiety
  5. When you’ve put in an active, productive, and happy day you are more likely to sleep well at night.
  6. Improves your social life: you never know who you will meet as you learn about and explore new hobbies, business interests, etc.
  7. Stay young. As mentioned above, people who are learning do not grow old.

In your journal this morning, I encourage you to write down anything you are excited about. What are you learning about? What are some things you would like to know more about? Brainstorm some ideas. You will probably get excited at the thought of all these possibilities.

What are some ways to learn new things at this time in your life?

  1. You can always go back to school. It’s never too late. At age 38 I went back to school to become a teacher. It was tremendously empowering and exciting to do that after being home and raising my children for several years.
  2. You can take a class  learn how to do new craft, foreign language, musical instrument. You name it.
  3. Check out some local meetings in your area and meet some new people while learning more about something you are interested in such as investment groups (I met my fiance at a local real estate investing meeting!), book clubs, Toastmasters, etc. Anything you can think of there is probably a group of people in your town or city gathering together to do it. Try MeetUp! Online to find meetings in your area.
  4. Browse bookstores and your library.
  5. Surf the internet.
  6.  Ask questions. If you want to learn more about something find a mentor or someone who is successful at that thing and email them or meet with them. I find people are usually happy to share their knowledge with others.

Have a blessed day!

Journal writing and blogging is good for our health!

Any activity we do that nurtures our creative side is very good for us. It empowers us, lifts our spirits, connects us with our higher power, keeps us mentally active in a positive way, and gets us in “the flow”.

Any kind of writing including journal writing and blogging will get our creative juices flowing. It is very satisfying to get our thoughts on paper (or the computer screen). I think it is truly good for the soul. Anything good for the soul is good for our sleep!

So I recommend writing. Write on!
