The small things in life I love are:

1. That first cup of coffee in the morning.

2. Hugs

3. Complimenting others and receiving compliments.

4. Getting home at the end of the work day

5. Cooking and eating a delicous meal with my family

6. Spending time outdoors

7. A great book

8. A nice glass of red wine.

9. A hot bath

10. An evening walk

11.. A great night of sleep and feeling well rested for your day

What are some bright spots in your life? a morning journal writing exercise

In a recent post we talked about ways to be more confident. One of them was playing and focusing on our strengths. For this morning’s meditation and journal writing time I’d like you to think about all the “bright spots” in your life. Make a list of anything in or about your life that gives you a boost.

My list of bright spots would look something like this:

1. My patient, loving husband

2. My comfortable bed.

3. My really good coffee.

5. I have a great laptop computer that enables me to create and communicate at my convenience.

6. I am healthy.

7. I am a good teacher.

8. I have a date with my hubby at one of our favorite restaurants tonight.

9. I live in beautiful Florida, just blocks from a gorgeous beach and the Atlantic ocean.

10. The Warm Milk Journal and all of my new friends I have made from this project.

There are more of course, but just listing these few have made me feel pretty good, already. What a wonderful start to the day.

Have a blessedly bright day,

Debra

Eight ways to make “thank you!” your mantra today

Here are eight ways to let “Thank You!” be your mantra today:

1. When you first wake up, say “thank” when the first foot touches the floor from your bed and then “you” when the other foot follows.

2. Say or think “thank you” as you take your first steps to the bathroom, closet, kitchen, etc.

3. Say or think “thank you” as you drive into work and as you enter your place of employment (or home office).

4. Say or think “thank you” for each smile you see on another’s face.

5. Say or think “thank you” for each delicious bite of food and sip of drink you take today.

6. Say a sincere “thank you” each time you are given a compliment, given good customer service, or greeted kindly.

7. Look at the splendor of mother nature outside today and think in your heart “thank you” to the divine power that created all of this.

8. Thank a friend, family member, colleage, or neighbor for just being the wonderful people that they are.

I thank you, Dear Warm Milk Journal reader, for taking time out of your valuable day to be here.

In Gratitude,

Debra

Counting your blessings: a Monday morning journal writing exercise

If you have the time this morning, get out your journal and write down all of the many ways that you are blessed in your life. I guarantee you will feel great as you set off to start your day…

Let’s see, my list would look something like this:

My blessings are many and they include:

  1. I have a wonderful man whom I am engaged to be married to. I adore him. I love our life together.
  2. I have two beautiful children who are growing up so quickly right before my eyes. They will not be children for much longer.
  3. I am healthy. I can’t remember the last time I had a cold or I was sick.
  4. I am enjoying a fantastic cup of hot coffee.
  5. I have a job.
  6. My job is not just any job. I am a teacher and will have sixteen little shiny 7 and 8 year old second graders bursting into our classroom ready to spend their day with me.
  7. My cats Patches and Mew are healthy and beautiful companions.
  8. We have terrific neighbors.
  9. I have a beautiful home.
  10. I live in sunny Florida. Here it is November now and the weather is still incredibly beautiful (after living in Seattle for 15 years and Oklahoma for 8- I really appreciate this climate).

I will stop here for I want you to take the time to write your own blessings down.

You are an incredibly blessed person. Make it a great day.
