Dear God,
Thank you for the “little things” that make life so wonderful:
An unexpected smile from a stranger,
hugs and encouragement from colleagues, friends, and loved ones..
a kind word here and there…
These little things mean so much. As I focus on them I become more aware and appreciative of all the many blessings, love, and support that I have in my life.
Thank you.
Debra
Dear God,
Thank you for this new day. It is early Fall here in North Florida. The season is newly changing. Cooler air brings a fresh new energy. Thank you for this time in the year which serves to remind us to pause from all our busy doings and perhaps slow down a bit.
I am thankful for many things. I can see all around me beauty and impermanence. This combination leaves me with the bittersweet feeling of awe, humility, and gratitude.
God, with your help, may I never take this precious gift of life for granted.
May I feel and express thanks more often than I complain.
May I connect, love, and help others today and every day.
Thank you for blessing me with a good night sleep, a fresh mind, and creative energy.
May I put this energy to good use.
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you
Debra
Simple blessings
bring true abundance
and joy to life.
May we not lose sight of the wondrous gifts of:
1. a child’s smile
2. the green in our own back yards
3. the way light reflects off the surface of our lakes and oceans
4. a nutritious wholesome meal prepared by someone with love.
May we recognize the good that is inherent in all of us.
Amen
What is anxiety?
I have personally experienced anxiety in different forms such as:
1. a general feeling of un-ease
2. Worrying about a particular thing over and over again
3. Feeling shy and almost panicky at the thought of having to do something (such as take an exam, socialize at a party, etc.)
4. Heart racing and feeling like I am going to have a heart attack
5. hyperventillating
6. emotional outbursts
7. Not being able to sleep
8. A spacey, flighty feeling; not being able to concentrate
Although I can't say that I am 100% anxiety-free, I am much better than I was, say five or ten years ago (my anxiety was probably at its worst in my early-mid thirties).
If I can pinpoint a few things that have particularly helped me stay centered and grounded they would be:
1, Surround myself with positive, supportive people (I do not need negative or emotional vampires in my life).
2. Writing in my journal.
3. Practicing yoga and meditation
4. Praying
5. And most of all, consciously keeping love as my guiding compass. If we stay tuned into the frequency of love, fear and anxiety have less of a chance of getting to us.
How to keep love first and foremost?
1. See the good in situations whenever possible
2. See everybody as a loving person
3. Focus on the love that is in my own heart
4. Think of what I love, who I love, all of the wonderful qualities about my loved ones...
5. List all of the things I am thankful for.
So, the equation for the day is this: more love = less anxiety, more peace
Have a blessed day,
Debra
Savoring little things today such as:
1. a comfortable bed
2. a loving partner to cuddle up with
3. that first cup of coffee
4. a good night sleep
Feeling refreshed and loved and thankful I feel I can do anything I set my heart out to do today…
What will you savor today?
Have a blessed day, everyone
Debra
What we focus on grows. What we appreciate appreciates. One of my favorite journal writing exercises is just simply writing down what I love.
Simple. I feel good thinking about all of the good in my life and really how blessed I am.
I encourage you all when you have a few minutes with your journals to write down a list of what you love: your grand passions, your simple little (guilty)pleasures, anything that gives you pleasure, moves your heart inspires you etc.
I will start my entry to get us started:
What I love:
1. My husband
2. My kids
3. My cats
4. A good glass of wine
5. a good cup of coffee
6. Time catching up with a dear friend from my past (you know- the kind of person who you can let years pass and then just pick right up where you left off).
7. Cooking a fabulous dinner and YOU KNOW it’s going to be good… ( I can smell my herbed chicken baking in the oven as I write this).
8. My little garden
9 A good movie
10. Stretching and doing yoga anytime!
I could go on and on (and yes, this is SO MUCH FUN!) but I want you to begin your reflection…
What do you love?
To a blessed and peaceful evening,
Debra
Morning freshness
morning light
Thank you for arriving just on time.
I am ready to gently face the day
with energy and open spirit.
I am confident and willing
to bend when necessary.
As I stretch my body and meditate
I feel thankful for all that is here
in my world.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
