To get a good night sleep, I recommend doing these 15 things.

To get a good night sleep, I am currently doing these 15 things:

  1. Writing in my gratitude journal every day.
  2. Taking a newspaper diet: I am reading spiritually nourishing articles , writing in my journal, praying, meditating, and practicing gentle yoga stretches in the morning.
  3. Being gentle on myself.
  4. Focusing on the things I love and enjoy.
  5. Remind myself often that each moment is new and fresh. I am not tied to the past and if I fret about the future I lose sight of all the good things I have now.
  6. I write.
  7. I cook and eat great food and enjoy nice wine in the evening.
  8. I am present with my students, friends, colleagues, family, and other people I encounter throughout my day at the gym, grocery store, etc.
  9. I am relaxing more.
  10. I am trusting God.
  11. I exercise my body.
  12. I am focusing on simple, gentle, and sweet things
  13. Love is my guiding principle
  14. If I catch myself in a negative thought pattern, I redirect my mind right away and focus on something I love.
  15. I work on appreciating everything.

Thank you all for taking the time to read and follow The Warm Milk Journal. I wish you peace and a restful night of sleep tonight.

The Mew Way: Gentle, Sweet, and Well Rested

I have the sweetest cat in the world. I really do. He is a very calm, gentle, loving cat. He accepts everybody. He loves people, kids, other cats, and even dogs. He will let anybody pet him. He is never going to make a very good “watch” or “guard” cat (that’s what we have our other cat, Patches for). But if you want sweetness, you got it in Mew.

What can we learn from my cat Mew?

  1. Being gentle makes for a peaceful life.
  2. A peaceful life makes for lot’s of good naps
  3. Lot’s of good naps makes for no reason to worry
  4. When in doubt, purr, love, and sleep.
