Tonight I invite you to take that bath, pour that glass of wine or brew that herbal tea…
Before bed, write a prayer in your journal. It can be very simple. Connecting to God (or whatever your faith may be) is very healthy for us. Getting out of ourselves a bit, focusing on a higher power can provide us with: perspective, the feeling of awe and love, gratitude, support, insight, and most of all: PEACE
My prayer for tonight:
Dear God,
Thank you for this day and now for the fact that this day has come to an end. I so welcome the evening and a little rest.
God, I hope that the good I did outweighed anything else. I appreciate the opportunities I was given to be a loving patient wife, teacher, and mother.
I appreciate all the smiles I received from colleagues and strangers.
I appreciate the beautiful Florida day I enjoyed as I took my young students outdoors today for recess.
I am thankful for the chance to inspire and nurture others. I love to be creative and I can do that during my work day and
writing here for The Warm Milk Journal.
Please help me to have perspective and continue to do good work.
Help me also to stretch and think out of the box regularly.
Amen,
Debra
Sleep is approaching me
or I am approaching sleep
A time to rest is near
and I am ready to let go.
Thank you, God for this day.
This has been a day of goodbyes and nice to meet yous;
A day of endings and beginnings.
Thank you for the day and I welcome a respite from it all:
sleep you may take me now for a bit
I need to rest and renew…
In the morning I will be ready
to begin a new chapter in
my life.
Good night
Time to call it a day. Put it to rest. My mind and body
wish simply to be, and certainly not do (at least for now).
Dear God,
Thank you for such a beautiful day-
a day filled with inspiring ideas,
loving moments,
bike rides and yoga on the beach,
and adorable thirteen year olds (my daughter and her friend)
eating pizza and delighting and giggling about everything…
God, may I rest peacefully tonight so that
I can wake up and be present for tomorrow, which will indeed be a gift
if granted to me in the morning.
Peace.
I am whole and ever thankful.
Amen.

Sleep is close at hand.
The business of the day is behind me.
I am fatigued but thankful
for the day.
I have been blessed with:
enduring energy and
lively interactions with students and family.
I have been loved and supported.
I have inspired and loved.
Now may the tide of this evening wash over me.
May I feel its calm and peace.
May I fade into stillness.
Thank you.
Good night.
Hanging it up
Time for rest
Turning it over
Time for rest
Releasing
Time for rest
Just being
Time for rest
I am thankful for this time for sleep and renewal. Deep sleep is not far away. Morning will come soon enough and I will
be ready for the new day. New. Rested.
Yes, it is time for rest.

This morning I wrote a post about making time to develop our spiritual practice: to be silent and connect with our higher power. We can do this through reading inspirational material, taking walks in nature, meditation, yoga, and writing in our journals.
The end of the day before bedtime is a good time to get quiet and connect with the Divine. You may close your eyes and just meditate on peace and God’s love. You may think the word “peace” or “God loves me” repeatedly. You may also write in your journal a prayer before you go to sleep.
My prayer for tonight would read something like this:
Dear God,
Thank you for today. It was a beautiful day. I am thankful for my lunch I had with an old friend, my time to write and contemplate, the time I had to read, and the martial arts class I enjoyed tonight. Thank you for my healthy body, the good food I ate, and my loving partner, John.
This was a blessed day and now I look forward to a restful night of peaceful sleep. May this sleep renew my body and spirit so that I may awaken to do wonderful things with the new day in store for me tomorrow.
Thank you again, God. I am so thankful for all of my blessings. Life is so rich.
Amen.
Your turn…. good night.
Debra : )
Goodnight small children, their parents, and friends.
Goodnight to all those who worked hard and tried their best.
Goodnight to humble beginnings and rewarding finishes.
Goodnight to the hopes and prayers of people with loved ones serving overseas.
Goodnight to beauty.
Goodnight challenges.
Goodnight blessings.
Goodnight.
Dear God,
Your touch unseen brings sleep upon my eyes. You make my lids grow heavy with the night. Grant that I may lie down in peace, and rise up to life renewed.
Into Your hands I commend my body and my spirit, both when I sleep and when I wake. In your presence, I cast off fear and lie down to restful sleep.
Amen
