Ayurvedic tips for insomnia

Try a sesame oil foot massage for a good night sleep

 

This is an Ayurvedic tip that I read from my current Yoga Journal issue:

1. Fill an eye-dropper bottle with untoasted organic sesame oil (such as Spectrum Organics)

2. Warm the oil in hot water.

3. Before going to bed, massage the warm oil into the soles of your feet.

4. Slip on cotton socks to keep the oil close to your skin and prevent staining your bed linens.

What does this do?

It is supposed to ground your energy by drawing nervous energy out of your head and down to earth.

I say, it’s a worth a try!

If nothing else, it sounds like a very relaxing, calming thing to do right before sleep. We have so many nerves, joints, and muscle tissues in our feet.

Another nice idea for a couple would be to give each other a foot massage before bed.

To sweet dreams, always…. Zzzz….
