To live a well balanced, rewarding life of our dreams by day and sleep restfully at night.
As the day ends, and we ease ourselves into the mellowness of the night, it is wonderful when we can sit back and think:
Today was a great day!
I guarantee you that if we end our days feeling this way our chances of getting a good night sleep improve tremendously.
I invite you during your journal writing time tonight to write on the top of the page: “Today was a great day!”.
Then list as many things as you can think of that affirm your declaration.
I challenge you friends, to do this even if you do not think you had a good day at all. Reach and see if you can think of some good that came of this day…
Shall we give this a go?
Let’s see….
Today was a great day!
These are the reasons why:
1. I found out today that I get to remain at the same grade level (next school year) with the same teaching partner and subjects (I am a fifth grade language arts teacher and I love it and I have a great partner to work with)!
2. Although storms were forecasted, we had no rain for our annual outdoor play day at school.
3. We have smoked salmon, bagels, cream cheese, and tabouli ready to eat for dinner tonight (with pina colada sherbet for dessert)
4. I had a great talk with my husband this afternoon when I got home from work.
5. We are enjoying some prosperity! Yes, checks are coming in (always a good thing)!
Your turn, sweet friends. How was your day great?
In Peace,
Debra
Are you dreamy? Do you drift? Do you ever want something more or different for your life?
How can we live the life of our dreams if we are not sure what we want?
To get clear on what you want I offer you this morning these five ideas:
1. In your journal or on a piece of paper, write down 100 things that you want to be, 100 things that you want to have, and 100 things that you want to do.
2. Imagine that you only had a few months left to life. What would be most important to you then?
3. Read about and talk to people who are doing what you want.
4. Express your desires to the people closest to you. Ask for their support (there is also the element of accountability when you share your dreams and goals with others).
5. Keep trying new things and be persistent. It is easy to give up quickly. If you believe in something, stick with it.
If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.
Have a blessed day,
Debra
Good Morning.
One powerful exercise we can do in our journal writing is cultivate a sense of gratitude for everything we have presently in our lives. We do this by writing down what we are thankful for NOW.
Next, what we focus on grows. Therefore, what do you truly want for your life? What are your dreams? We so often get caught up in the busy-ness of daily life that we can lose sight of our dreams. Before we know it, years have passed by and we are not living the lives that we really want for ourselves.
This morning’s exercise has two parts and it is simple.
1. Write down what you are thankful for this morning. Really feel that sense of gratitude well up within you. Feelings are important. If you can get into that feel-good appreciative state- you will be blessed with more good things in your life.
2. Write down a list of your dreams. What do you really want for your life? Imagine..feel… then develop a feeling of gratitude for these things now as if they have manifested already. You have to believe that your dreams can come true!
I will model just a few notes for you. My journal entry this morning would look like this:
Gratitude List
I am very thankful right now for:
1. My sweet husband who is sleeping peacefully as I write this.
2. My health.
3. The fact that there are only a few days left of this school year.
4. The Warm Milk Journal is growing and flourishing.
5. My beautiful home here in North Florida.
My dreams are:
1. To prosper as a full time writer
2. To be free and have the money to travel and take adventures with my husband as often as we want.
3. To live closer to the ocean.
4. To have a home with more room to garden, a nice deck or balcony, and a large shop/garage in the back for my husband to enjoy his woodworking hobby.
5. For my teenage son to get on a healthy and productive path and begin his life as a responsible, happy young man.
Your turn!
Have a blessed day,
Debra
Rather than whining and feeling sorry about ourselves for all the things we don’t like about our lives, why not focus on what we do want?
I am human and I do from time to time catch myself in a negative state. When the pity party threatens to overtake me, here are some things that help:
1. Find something (anything!) to appreciate about my life.
2. Look around me and if I see others enjoying something I would like to have more myself I bless them and feel happy for them.
3. Remember that I am in charge of my life. I am bigger than my circumstances.
4. Having faith and KNOWING that I am working to create the life of my dreams TODAY.
A good resource that I recommend is Rhonda Byrne’s (Author of The Secret) latest book: The Power. The message is a simple but powerful one:
Love what you want. If you don’t like something about your life, don’t worry about changing the negative thing. Instead, focus love on what you want. By doing that you will create something (wonderfully) new.
Have a blessed day,
Debra
Good morning world! During your morning quiet time you may get out your journals and write down any of these affirmations that resonate with you today….
Have a blessed day.
