What Makes You Joyful?

A Journal Writing Exercising

· positive living,Joy,journal writing

The holiday season is upon us and many believe this is the most joyful time of the year. We have beautiful lights to shine up our long evenings, music and holiday movies from our childhood to delight us. We have parties to attend and wonderful smells coming from our ovens... The fire is lit and the cocoa or eggnog is delighting our tastebuds. Loved ones are in our hearts and in our arms.

For some of us, this time of year may not be so rosy. We may have experienced loss or we are in pain of some kind. We feel alone. We wish Christmas would just go away this year. Hmm...

No matter where we are in our lives this season, I encourage us to get out our journals and write. Writing is very healing. We get in touch with the divine that is in each of us.

Tonight's journal writing exercise is a simple but very meaningful one: What makes you joyful?

When we connect to our joy, we connect to our heart and what really makes us happy. We connect to something real and authentic. We connect to something special and sacred and something that has been a part of us from the moment we were born (or perhaps conceived).

The mission of The Warm Milk Journal is this: To live the life of our dreams by day and sleep restfully at night. I say the more we connect to our inner joy, the more we will meet our mission. What do you say? Let us begin!

As I often do, I will begin my journal entry and then it will be your turn. As always, don't think too hard or self-edit. Just write and let it come out.

Let's see...

What makes me joyful?

1. Meaningful conversations

2. blooming flowers

3. beautiful music

4. Smiles

5. Letting go...

6. Feeling valued and appreciated

7. Writing

8. Anticipating and going on an adventure

9. When there is loving harmony in my marriage

10. Making soup

11. A great cup of coffee, tea, or glass of wine

12. laughter

13. The outdoors

14. Dancing

15. My family

I could go on. This is a pretty great journal writing exercise. Have fun (and be joyful).
