Is Stress Robbing You of a Good Night Sleep?

Stomp Out the Stress with these Five Tips

· Sleep,Insomnia Tips,stress,anxiety

These days, we all have many sources of stress. There is the every day type of stress that comes from things like: responsibilities at home and work, paying bills, our relationships, daily commute, social media use, etc.

Then there are the circumstances that seem increasingly common these days such as severe weather, politics, and crime.

There is no question that stress can affect our quality of sleep (along with many other factors that affect our health). When we are stressed, our hormones go into fight or flight mode and can affect our heart, blood sugar, and blood pressure. We may also crave sugar more, become irritable, anxious, and suffer from insomnia.

Here are five tips I would like to share with you on how to sleep well despite the stress that comes with life:

1. Starting your day with meditation and prayer. I have really been enjoying Deepak Chropra and Oprah's 21 day meditation program: Desire and Destiny.

2. Making sure to get outside and find time to exercise (take a walk, go the gym, attend a yoga class, dance around your living room).

3. Focus on your blessings. Keeping a gratitude list in your journal is a great practice!

4. Watch caffeine consumption after 2:00 PM.

5. Be choosy about the media you expose yourself to. There is a lot of negativity out there. Challenge yourself by taking a look at what you are reading, watching, and listening to. Do you have to be on Facebook or have CNN on 24/7? I highly recommend you keep all electronics out of the bedroom.

I wish you a restful night tonight and every night.

In Peace,

Debra
