To live a well balanced, rewarding life of our dreams by day and sleep restfully at night.
For those of us with introverted tendencies or who have issues with social anxiety, putting ourselves out there can be a challenge. For much of my life, I have struggled with speaking up for myself, not wanting to bring attention to myself, and shying away from social or professional opportunities.
Well, that was THEN! I am in my forties now and I feel like this is a wonderful time in my life. I have found my voice, I am quitting my people pleasing ways, and I am learning about self promotion and marketing.
I don’t believe it is bragging or being narcissistic if we share with others the good that is going in our lives. I would never want to be a bore and nor do I like to hang out with people who do nothing but talk about themselves. I doubt many of us here have that issue. If anything, we don’t like to talk about ourselves much (especially in a crowd,at a party,or business meeting).
We had a little fun at our Warm Milk Journal Facebook page this week…
We shared some of our accomplishments and things we are proud of with each other.
A few examples:
There is Rachel Dignall who shared,
“I am proud of my Hypnobirthing business
and all the wonderful Mums, Dads and Babies I’ve helped”
*a sweet note that Rachel added: “I supported two beautiful births last weekend and one of the babies was named after me”.
There is Jennifer Andrew who just graduated yesterday from The University of Stirling, Scotland with a BA in Psychology with honors. Congratulations, Jennifer!
Kate Garrett got one of her poems published in a magazine this month! You can see it in the Word Life section of Now Then.
Michele Poet completed some important editing work recently!
There’s Camille Pask who is a food writer, a trained chef, and a working owner/operator of a semi truck!
You can check out her Food Blog at A Day In The Life of the GypsyGourmet
There is my dear friend Dawn Herring, who shared with us that she has recently published an ebook, The Birthday Wall. For any of you journal writers out there, Dawn hosts a wonderful journal chat every Thursday on Twitter (2:00 Pacific time, 5:00 Eastern). Use the hashtag #journalchat to participate.
I guess this post won’t be complete if I don’t toot the horn for The Warm Milk Journal just a bit… We have recently increased our daily visits by 50%! I have surpassed the 10,000 follower mark on Twitter. I continue to be inspired and grateful for all the comments and support. THANK YOU!
I think there are a lot of us out there who believe in our mission:
To live a well balanced, rewarding life of our dreams by day and sleep restfully at night.
This is just so much fun, I hate to stop!
Remember, it is not a bad thing to toot your horn!
We all have great things to be proud of. The world only benefits when it knows about them.
Coming attraction:
I had the pleasure of interviewing Kaya Turski who is
The most dominant female in ski slopestyle’s young history. I think you will be inspired by this young woman’s spirit and accomplishments.
