To live a well balanced, rewarding life of our dreams by day and sleep restfully at night.
Many years ago, we were once children. We were happy in our innocence. Anything seemed possible. Then years pass and the weight and responsibility of our adult lives began to take their toll. Bills need to be paid and children raised. Somewhere along the way we may have compromised some. Compromised on our dreams to make a living. Perhaps we have compromised so much over the years that we have just given up.
I will let you all in on a little secret right now… here it is, are you ready…?
That little child is still in you. Right now. No matter your age or what year the calendar is telling us it is. Those dreams and any new ones you have within you are still there. It is never too late to dream and never too late to take action on making your dreams come true.
In your journals tonight, write about anything you dreamed about doing when you are a child.
I am a second grade teacher and children are quite precious. They have great aspirations. “I want to be a mommy and an astronaut” or “I want to be a fireman” or “I want to be an artist and an olympic gymnast” or “I want to be a professional football player”.
Thinking back when I was a child I can remember being in the third grade and thinking that the best job in the world would be a broadcast journalist like Barbara Walters- for she got to meet and interview famous people from all walks of life. She got to travel. She got to write. She got to be on TV. Pretty cool stuff, huh? I also thought it would be great to be a marine biologist for I was growing up in Hawaii and just loved swimming, the ocean, and dolphins.
And so it goes….The stuff of childhood dreams.
Write down your list of childhood dreams.
Write down any of your current dreams.
Does anything really jump out at you? Anything stirring those dormant passions which may be just beneath the surface, ready to come out when you permit them to?
Write. Then feel. Something very exciting may come from this exercise. You won’t know until you do it.
I dare you, now…..
