About ten years ago, when I was in my early thirties, I took up yoga. There was a wonderful Hatha Yoga class offered at my town’s community center. Our instructor, Julie, would often integrate a visualization exercise into our class. One that has really stayed with me over the years is what I call the sun ball exercise. I don’t really remember now what she called it or if it even had a name. I have since then made it my own and use it regularly during my meditation practice.
The basic premise: from a sitting relaxed position with your eyes closed imagine a glowing ball of sunshine about the size of a bowling ball. This ball of light is filled with God’s love and healing energy. You can do with the sun ball anything you wish and make this meditation your own. You can imagine it coming from the sky and landing gently on your lap. Then imagine it flowing into different parts of your body, from head to toe, and as it does so it is healing you. It is all powerful. It is pure love. Think of God or the universe and the sun. Pure radiant love and healing energy visiting you: your mind, your body, and your spirit.
I have used this meditation technique in a variety of ways. For example:
I hope you enjoy and benefit from the the sun ball meditation as much as I have over the years.
