John Wooden’s Seven Point Creed

The sports world lost a beloved figure Friday when former UCLA coach, John Wooden, past away at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 99. Coach Wooden was a legendery basketball coach, leading his players to win a historical 10 NCAA championships. He was also well respected for his  humility, wisdom and life philosophy. Coach Wooden often shared his Seven Point Creed which he says his father gave to him.  I would like to post it here because the values in Mr. Wooden’s words are very much in alignment with much of what I write about here at the Warm Milk Journal.

Here it is:

  1. Be true to yourself.
  2. Make each day your masterpiece.
  3. Help others.
  4. Drink deeply from good books, especially the Bible.
  5. Make friendship a fine art.
  6. Build a shelter against a rainy day.
  7. Pray for guidance and give thanks for your blessings every day.
